How it all started

Celebrating 70 years of progress and achievement , a dream that started with a few and is now a reality : Bimbo® is currently the world's largest bread maker.

"Bimbo® Bakery" started operations on December 2nd 1945 with only 34 people working in a small plant in Mexico City located in the district of Santa Maria Insurgentes in 117 North 58 Street. Its founders had the vision of “baking bread that would be really good, nutritious, tasty, fresh… to make it well: with sanitary, with the greatest perfection and with the intention to please and nourish, thus reaching every home in Mexico”. The founders of the Company were: Lorenzo Servitje, Jaime Jorba, Jaime Sendra, José T. Mata, Alfonso Velasco and Roberto Servitje. Above, the 1957 “Welcome to Bimbo®” leaflet. After a few years, the baking company welcomed its new hires with a leaflet in which, aside from giving an explanation of the Bimbo® history and rules, it expressed the wish that they would find in Bimbo® “not only a way to earn a living, but also a place of pleasant, fair and secure work”.
